Each state has their own requirements for becoming a Notary Public. Some require that you complete a specific course, while others require prospective Notaries to pass an exam. California is one of the states to require a specific course and passing an exam.     A Living Will is a legal document addressing only deathbed considerations; a client unilaterally declares his/her desire that life-prolonging measures be discontinued when there is no hope of ultimate recovery.
